About

I'm Laurie Coots,
I love in Brooklyn
& I'm a writer.

When I moved to Brooklyn it marked the beginning of a personal Renaissance of sorts.

I renovated an 1866 Brownstone learning how to use an arsenal of power tools along the way. I chronicled my entire adventure on a separate blog: girlvsbrownstone.com.

Finding beauty in the urban landscape, I took up photography, taking classes to sharpen my eye and composition.

With my West Coast roots unhelpful, I tended my new East Coast garden, making little down jackets to protect my hybrid tea roses from the frost (not realizing that I should have planted KnockOut roses instead.)

And I resumed my writing. Now my writing had not been completely abandoned throughout my working life, but unfortunately it had been relegated to speeches, articles, presentations, proposals and ads.

From a storytelling standpoint, my creative juices, my fiction writing, my provocative essays, had pretty much been sitting on the shelf since high school, like a long forgotten toy.

Now I am writing with a drive that is making up for lost time. So many ideas to catch, craft and release.

Join me on this journey as I rediscover the creativity and as I share with the world along the way.
